Somehow laugher is one of the things that gets us through difficult times. It’s almost like a healing mechanism and a breath of fresh air. I came across a verse in Job that perfectly fits our story. When Job had lost everything, he had people who visited him and talked with him. One of the visitors said, “He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy” (Job 8:21). And he was right. Job did end up having joy again. That gives me hope. The times I’ve laughed in the past month and a half, while significantly less than normal times, have been such a relief and a little reminder that we’re slowly making it through this. We laughed in the hospital watching a ridiculous Shark Tank pitch about a gadget that took the core out of a banana. We laughed listening to a story my grandma told when she was having someone fix something at her house. We’ve laughed (and cringed) at my dad’s dad jokes. My grandpa was notorious for asking me what routes I took to get from one destination to the other. Ty joked that in Heaven, my grandpa probably asked Jensen which route he took getting there. We’ve laughed about seeing a cowboy riding his horse in the middle of Lubbock.

We miss Jensen more than we've ever missed anything else. I wish we were getting to laugh about little things he was doing, whether he was making a funny face or movement. But I hope someday in Heaven, we'll get to have lots of laughs with him. We love and miss you so much, Jensen Brooks.
